UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY

Undergraduate Research Assistant Supervisor: Dr. Barry Setlow

December 2022- Present

  • Assist in laboratory tasks for research regarding cognitive aging, addiction studies with substances such as oxytocin and cannabis, and risky decision making

  • Work directly with PhD student, Emely Gazarov, in analyzing the potential impacts of cannabidiol in reducing post-traumatic brain injury inflammation in a rodent model

  • Assist in organizational tasks for about 12 hours per week, including preparing chow for mice, ensuring that all animals are cared for and correctly placed, arranging paperwork and data efficiently, and training new volunteers

  • Performed surveys for parents of adolescents regarding general opinions about HPV vaccination

  • Translate for patients who are not proficient in English.

  • Responsible for patient intake and communication with medical students, physician assistants, and certified doctors.

  • Participated in medical shadowing at a teaching hospital in Pavia, Italy, in which I shadowed general surgeons, cardiac surgeons, and emergency department physicians for over 50 hours
